So I meant to say: To fade out the remainder of the previous shade, have you tried a mild bleach shampoo? I can point you to a helpful blog post about it. I've tried it and it generally works, as long as you haven't totally saturated the hair shaft with the color.
(I don't always type my entire thoughts. I apologize!)
